Privacy policy

In short: this website uses no tracking cookies and no analytics services. Data only arise when you write to us, order something or commission a soil sample. The legally binding version is the German original.

1. Controller

Kohls GbR – BodenBalance, Am Weidehof 1, 34630 Gilserberg, Germany, e-mail kohl@bodenbalance.de, phone +49 160 7475720. A data protection officer is not legally required and has not been appointed.

2. Visiting the website (hosting)

This website is hosted by IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Str. 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany. When you visit, the server automatically processes connection data (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser type, referring page) in log files. This is necessary to deliver the page and keep the system secure (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). IONOS deletes the logs after a short period. A data processing agreement is in place with IONOS. Fonts and all content are loaded from our own server; no third-party content is embedded and no cookies are set.

3. Contact

If you write to us by e-mail, phone or via the contact form, we process your details to handle the enquiry (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR, for general enquiries (f)). The forms on this website (contact, order, delivery address before payment) are forwarded by the web server as e-mail to us and not stored there; only what you enter is transmitted, plus your IP address to prevent abuse. We delete enquiries once they are dealt with and no retention obligations apply.

4. Orders in the shop

For orders (microBIOMETER products) we process name, address, e-mail, VAT ID if applicable and the order data to fulfil the contract and issue the invoice (Art. 6 (1) (b) and (c) GDPR). We keep invoice data for ten years under § 147 AO (German Fiscal Code). The delivery address is passed on to the shipping company.

Payment: if you pay online you are redirected to our payment service provider, Mollie B.V., Keizersgracht 126, 1015 CW Amsterdam, Netherlands (payment by card, bank transfer or Pay by Bank). The provider processes your payment data under its own responsibility; we only receive confirmation of payment and the data needed for bookkeeping. The provider’s privacy notice applies.

5. Soil analyses: order form, laboratory and report

With the order form you commission the laboratory (AGROLAB Agrar GmbH, Sarstedt, or Institut für Agrar- und Umweltanalytik, Freyburg) with the analysis. The laboratory transmits to us your contact details, the information from the order form (field name, crop, sampling depth, region, liming) and the analysis results so that we can prepare the report and fertiliser recommendation (Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR). The order form says so. We store analysis data and reports for as long as the advice continues and for year-on-year comparison – usually ten years, after which they are deleted or anonymised. We do not pass results on to third parties without your consent.

Once the Mineral Balancing Tool (mbt.bodenbalance.de) launches, analysis data will be stored there in your farm account. A separate privacy policy applies within the tool.

6. Anonymised use for developing the method

BodenBalance continuously develops its interpretation rules (targets, fertiliser amounts, indices). For this we would like to evaluate analysis results in anonymised form – without name, address, field name, order number or coordinates; only measured values, texture, region (state/country), land use and crop remain. No farm can be traced back from these data.

Consent: With your signature on the order form or the tick in the Mineral Balancing Tool you consent to your analysis results being used in this anonymised form for developing the method, for reference values in the report (“typical values in your region”) and for scientific publications (Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR). Consent is voluntary and not required for the analysis itself. You can withdraw it at any time with effect for the future by e-mail to kohl@bodenbalance.de; data already anonymised can no longer be attributed to you and remain in the data set.

7. Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection to processing based on Art. 6 (1) (f) (Art. 21). You can withdraw consent at any time. You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority; the authority responsible for us is the Hessian Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, Wiesbaden.

8. Changes

We adapt this policy when the website or the legal situation changes. Version: October 2026.
